Pillows

A hundred years ago, Japanese textile printers frequently employed hand cut stencils, called katagami, through which a rice resist was applied prior to dipping the fabric into the indigo vat.  These katagami are highly detailed and reflect the artist’s hand. They are also in great demand by collectors. We have a large number of these stencils and are using them to print our own fabrics, using subtle bronze color on silk and linen. The prints are then sewn into pillows with pieced fronts, frequently adding detail with vintage kimono fabric. The pillows are then filled with a soft 25/75 down/feather mix.

These pillows are one-of-a-kind and are only available at Kimberly Lang. If you have color considerations, we are happy to work on your own pre-approved fabric.

The pillows shown in the portfolio are for sale. Please contact Kimberly Lang for pricing information.
